Apply the Japanese locale in a product
Use ja or ja-JP to label content actually written in Japanese. Use ja-JP with Intl when Japanese formatting for Japan is intended. The locale changes formatting rules; it does not translate existing interface text.
A visitor in Japan may still choose another language. Preserve that choice instead of replacing it with Japanese from the visitor's country alone.

These examples use 1234567.89 and the fixed instant 2026-01-15T13:45:00Z, with dates displayed in UTC. Intl computes the results when this site is built; your browser and locale-data version may differ. Unsupported tags are identified instead of showing default-language output.
