.env Diff: Private Key-by-Key Comparison

Compare two local environment files with values concealed by default, strict duplicate-key errors and value-free reports.

Enabling local controls…

1. Add two .env files

Inputs stay in this browser's memory: no upload, storage or URL state. Results and exports contain keys and statuses only.

Conservative single-line syntax: optional export, ASCII KEY=value, single or double quotes; only full-line # comments are ignored. Quote inline #. No backslashes, interpolation, command syntax or multiline values. Edit during the 15-second reveal without extending it; paste, compare or leaving the tab hides values. Each input: 1 MiB, 10,000 lines, 5,000 keys.

2. Key differences

Paste two .env files or load a sample, then compare keys.

How to use this tool

Paste each file into its concealed field, or temporarily reveal it with the eye button. Compare missing, changed and identical keys, then copy or download the key/status report. Values never appear in reports.

When not to use it

A conservative single-line syntax subset, not a shell or full dotenv implementation. Duplicate keys, interpolation, continuations and unsupported syntax are rejected, never executed. Key names themselves may reveal sensitive context.
