JSON Pointer Explorer: RFC 6901 Paths

Explore a JSON tree, create escaped JSON Pointers and URI fragments, and distinguish missing paths from null locally.

Enabling local controls…

1. Add JSON

Parsed in this browser only. No upload or storage. Up to 1 MiB, 100 levels and 50,000 nodes.

Empty selects the root; / selects an empty key. ~1 means /, ~0 means ~; # starts a URI fragment.

2. Explore and get value

Enter JSON or load the sample, then parse JSON.

Exact paths only; no JSONPath or document edits. Quote large integers and numbers that cannot be exported without precision loss.

How to use this tool

Parse JSON, select a tree node or enter an exact pointer, then resolve. Copy the plain path, URI fragment or complete compact JSON value. Empty selects the root; / selects an empty key.

When not to use it

No JSONPath, wildcard search or document edits. Resolution is not schema validation, authorization or a guarantee that the selected value is safe to publish.
