JSON Redactor: Mask Explicit Fields Locally
Select exact JSON Pointer paths, preview explicit field replacements and export local JSON with source and result concealed by default.
Enabling local controls…
1. Input and select
Processed only in this browser: no upload, storage or URL state. Source is masked by default; use the eye button to reveal and edit for 15 seconds. Input: 1 MiB, 100 levels, 50,000 nodes; at most 100 paths; output: 4 MiB.
Add one at a time. / selects an empty key; / selects a space key. Encode ~ as ~0 and / as ~1. Whitespace is not trimmed; use the checkbox for root.
Selected paths and matched types
No selection. Path names can also be sensitive; take care when screen sharing.
Only explicitly selected values change; other keys and values remain. This is not automatic PII detection or guaranteed anonymization. Invalid, duplicate or overlapping paths fail as a whole. Review the full result before sharing.
2. Review redacted result
Inspect source, select paths, then redact.
How to use this tool
Paste JSON into the concealed input, inspect the path tree and choose fields or add plain Pointers. Apply a fixed or custom replacement, temporarily reveal the result for review, then export the complete JSON.
When not to use it
No automatic PII or secret detection, wildcard paths or anonymization guarantee. Duplicate, missing and overlapping paths block the whole operation. Unselected values, key names and relationships can still expose sensitive information.
