SSH Public Key Inspector: Structure and SHA256 Fingerprint
Inspect one OpenSSH RSA, Ed25519 or NIST ECDSA public key locally, verify wire structure and compare an expected SHA256 fingerprint.
Enabling local controls…
Public keys only
At most 32 KiB UTF-8; RSA, Ed25519 and NIST P-256/384/521 ECDSA public keys only. Remove authorized_keys options yourself. Private keys, certificates, DSA, FIDO, known_hosts and multiple lines are rejected.
Public-key comments may still contain personal data. Processing stays in page memory, without host connections. The sample is synthetic structure, not a login key. ECDSA curve membership and RSA mathematical security are not checked.
Structure and SHA256 fingerprint
Paste one public-key line or load the synthetic sample, then inspect.
The SHA256 fingerprint hashes the original SSH wire blob, in the same form as ssh-keygen -lf -E sha256, excluding comments. A match does not prove identity, private-key control, login authorization or security strength.
How to use this tool
Paste a public .pub line, optionally enter an expected SHA256 fingerprint and inspect. Read algorithm parameters and export the complete structural report.
When not to use it
Never paste private keys. Authorization options, certificates, DSA and FIDO are unsupported. A matching fingerprint identifies public bytes, not an owner or login permission.
